chasing shadows again

{October 13, 2009}   autumn stalks the lands

It does.  It becomes cold in the morning when I go out frolicking with emo-puppy in the dewy grass.

Fair enough, Internet.  He frolicks.  I stagger along and mutter curses because dawn is not an appropriate time for frolicking in my general opinion (unless one is still, perchance, awake).  Dog walks are even pre-coffee.

Because I have been living in the land of loud birds I have the cold tolerance of orchids.  To keep me from dying, Cryssy sent me a FOX HOODIE for my birthday!!!  Internet, I can have fox ears.  While my general opinion of hoodies with ears has been low, let me tell you I suddenly understand!  I made the squee noise when I opened the box.  I smiled when I held it up.  I smiled when I tried it on.  I smiled when I looked in the mirror.  I smiled when I though of how appalled everyone will be.  And now I am preparing to snuggle up with this hoodie, some rum, and either Neverwhere or Small Favor on audio CD.

Among my first projects when I finally get a job (wish me luck on my test to prove I am good enough to score an interview to become a bank teller!) will be to get a thermos that can hold hot drinks to drink while reading on the porch with this hoodie.  Autumn is my favorite season, and I should spend some time out in it.  Also, perhaps soon a hookah and then I can choose/mix flavors to match the books I am reading.  Ladies and gentlemen of the Internet, this idea pleases me greatly!  (Do feel free to leave suggestions in the comments.  🙂  I am interested to see what flavors you think books (or perhaps characters) should have.)  I realise that this is going to lead to drinks for books and me getting very, very drunk and perhaps dropping these books (or these drinks!) into either a snowdrift or a bath.  Or toasting marshmallows over candleflames in a Jack-o-lantern.

Okay, come to think of it – I might do that sober too.  The marshmallow bit.

Also – THANK YOU FOR FOX HOODIE, CRYSSY!!!  *kiss*  Fortune cookie!

{December 15, 2008}   I have adopted dragon eggs!

Okay, in the spirit of cute and curious, I have adopted dragon eggs.  Apparently they need you to click on them to live.  As I’d rather like to experiment and see what they turn into (maybe I’ll get a zombie-dragon!), I’ve put their clicky links up here.  Have at it – if they hatch, I’ll update you.

Adopt one today!

{July 28, 2008}   ~prowling the internets~

Has been mostly my day.  I am lazy.  And wistful.

Poking at ranches in Colorado is an enjoyable pastime.  Largely because the listings often include pictures of views off of porches, streams, lakes, snow (I miss snow!), and unusual rock formations.  It is unlikely I will ever live on a ranch in Colorado, but saying I’ll be buying a ranch there if I ever win the lotter has gone from joke to actual priority.  I’m not sure I’ve seen much for places more beautiful.

This little house would normally not catch much attention from me at all.  It certainly isn’t grand, fantastic, or horribly given to my taste.  But…I want to walk through the ground in those pictures.  I grew up with a creek in my back yard.  I can hear it when I look at that picture.  Taste it.

And this house with a wall of windows!  I cant even imagine.  Can’t.  Even.  Imagine.

Now I am prowling for lingerie.

I found a shop on Etsy of made-to-measurement lingerie.

It bears paisley!  But she has many, many things which are the cute.  And I must know where to find the cute.  Once I live in another house, a house that is more mine, I will undoubtedly be up to my old tricks of answering the door in lingerie (okay, admittedly, I thought the delivery guy was my friend, because he was early and said friend was late – but I will state for the record that disappointment was NOT evident on the stunned expression when I flung the door open).  In any event – if one attends parties in lingerie and wears it about one’s house, one’s lingerie must be up to snuff!  Having not bought much lingerie in the last (*wince*) two years, that will require some shopping.

{July 24, 2008}   ~hello to the cosmos~

The internets amuse me today.

It is difficult to be lonely today – I have notes from Molli and Ashish, I have e-mails from a gollum today, I have chatters with many peoples.

It has been requested that we have a saltwater fish tank behind the bar instead of a mirror – which meets my approval.  The plans for a restaurant are in discussion – themed menus are the good!  Especially with themes like mango, chocolate, and coffee.

The internet is full of things to share!

One thing comes from the extra-adorable bunnyZombieWalk!!!

Also, Peace Day (September 21) approaches!!!  Visit the site for Peace One Day to make a commitment that is tiny-sized to galaxy-sized and get banners, e-mail signatures, and things!!!  I think I may make a pair of jeans with glued on accents in fabric (like the koi pants) for Peace Day.  The peace signs will have to be fuzzy.  Fuzzy peace sign pants!!!  Okay…moving on…..

And the internet is also still full of chocolate!

A recipe for chocolate zombie fingers (decorated chocolate-covered pretzels) from Extreme Chocolate (yes, extreme chocolate!).

Also this site mentions the existance of chocolate beer! There is a link to recipies, but nowhere to order chocolate beers!  Sooooooo…I have found some places where one can find the chocolate beers!  Shenandoah Brewing Company does chocolate donut beers (Alexandria, VA) and you can brew your own beer, which sounds pretty cool.  Mountain Sun does chocolate beer (Boulder, CO – which is closer to someone’s tall, tall city than VA, though I’m still looking for chocolate beer in Denver – will has updates) and has a beer listing that makes me wish that I was a) in Colorado and b) liked beer at all.  I want to like raspberry beer dammit!  [Totally a tangent: BEER RECIPIES – note to self, make chili with beer!]  And…Desert Edge Brewery (Salt Lake City, UT) has chocolate beers.  If I missed anyone for chocolate beers, let me know, and I will try to find the chocolate beers just for you.

EDIT: Order Young’s Double Chocolate online – Australia only!

EDIT II: Young’s Double Chocolate online

EDIT III: Arcadia “Coco Loco” Triple Chocolate online

Read about places for chocolate tastings near where I will one day return from exile.

More things will come!  For now I posts this!

I am in the process of bleaching my hair. The bleach that I normally use is not findable here, so I got bleach from Pop Gothic. High maintenance bleach! First it wants me to mix it, fair enough. I did that before. Then it wants me to apply it – fair enough, to work on hair it should touch hair. Then it wants me to wrap my hair in plastic and blowdry until done! Um…hello…effort? I miss my ‘apply and leave on 90 minutes’ bleach. This states I may have to blowdry my hair for 60 minutes! So…this opening is a break from blow-drying. Which I shall now resume. Back when I get tired of holding a blow dryer again!

And done with that! The dryer blew my darling little plastic turban apart. I’ll let it cool (as ordered) then rinse and shampoo and apply toning conditioner. I definitely need to switch back to my old bleach (though the color this one turned my hair in more like 25 minutes is as promising as the 90 minute time of the other one. Seriously. My old response to hair dye was to do it and hang out with people.

Who wants to come to a hair dying party? We can has hair dyes and daiquiris and maybe even manicures! Most. Fun. Ever. We can even has pre-dying lingerie shopping! Lingerie…finger sandwiches…chocolate…daiquiris…hair dye…. Movies? We could always mock porn. It seems appropriate, somehow.

I can’t wait to move back to where I have the people for that. I miss doing things like that. Immensely.

Off to rinse!

My hair is, in fact, quite pale yellow. It has toner in it, which should be rinsed out soon. Like 10-15 minutes. Meanwhile, picture for you!

The Secret: I miss the people I meet in my dreams.

The Picture:

funny pictures
moar funny pictures

I will admit…my hair is almost white. It is impressive. But…I don’t need white, only pale enough blue dye is more noticable than a highlight. Still…impressive.
